The corporations maintained a tight grip on everything entering Cyberpunk City, controlling the flow of technology, food, medicine, and other essential goods to keep the population dependent and under their influence. The Wraith Syndicates emerged in the cracks of that system, beginning as a small group of smugglers willing to move what the corporations refused to provide. As corporate security tightened began hunting them down, the Wraiths were forced to become more sophisticated, developing hidden routes, advanced technology, and increasingly elaborate methods of bypassing corporate control.

To remain independent, the Wraith Syndicates needed technology that could not be easily tracked or controlled by the corporations. That meant avoiding products from giants like OptiTech and Zenith Dynamics, whose systems were deeply integrated into the city and could be monitored, restricted, or shut down. Instead, the Wraiths relied on equipment built by independent engineers, mechanics, and hackers in the less regulated zones beyond corporate reach.

The Wraith Syndicates kept their operations deliberately small, with only a handful of members stationed at each base. This limited their ability to move goods, but it also meant a corporate raid could never wipe out the entire network. Their work was dangerous, especially as the corporations began using rogue hit teams to eliminate Wraith operatives without leaving a trail.

Despite the danger, the Wraith Syndicates became more than smugglers. By finding ways around corporate restrictions, they gave ordinary people access to technology, medicine, food, and other goods without every part of their lives being controlled by a corporation. The Wraiths could never break the corporations’ grip entirely, but they gave people just a little freedom.
